La Casita is an old Galician barn conversion with an added extension – sleeping up to four people, a Spanish King size bed, and a Spanish double sofa bed, a bathroom, a kitchen and a lounge, with outdoor eating and relaxation areas.
Stepping out the front door leads to a large garden with a patio and a choice of dappled shade or full sunshine at any time of the day.
Situated in a small community of six houses the garden is a perfect place to while away the days in peace and quiet apart from the birdsong and the buzzing of bees, occasionally broken by the odd tractor.
Inside
Entering through double doors leads you to a fully equipped kitchen and comfortable sitting room, with a log burning fire and central heating throughout. The bedroom contains a Galician king size bed, bedside lockers and a wardrobe. There is access from the bedroom to the bathroom via a sliding door. The bathroom has a large shower perfect to wash away your cares; it is accessible from both the sitting room and the bedroom.
Outside
The garden is surrounded by lush green fields and trees as far as the eye can see. For dining al fresco there is a shaded eating area with a table and chairs. You can enjoy swinging in the hammock whilst you listen to the bird song and all the other wonderful sounds of nature. The garden has both full sun and shaded areas for you to choose where it is you want to unwind. At the rear of the property there is a secure shed to store any equipment in a dry safe place – perfect or mountain bike storage!
City of Lugo
The Roman wall that surrounds the city of Lugo is the only one in the world that is complete. For this reason and because of its mysterious beauty it has been declared a World Heritage Site.
Legend has it that the Romans built the wall to protect not a city but a forest; “Augustus‘ Holy Forest”, Lucus Augusti in Latin, from which Lugo takes its name. Today the forest is a mystery, but the wall still stands, defying time and speaking to those who know how to listen. La Casita is situated in the perfect position to explore all of Galicia -the beautiful cites of A Coruna, Lugo, Santiago are all just a short drive away, as are the beaches, the coast of Galicia North and West are full of outstanding beaches and coast line. Here in Lugo you have to opportunity to visit lots of cultural and historical places as well as many nature loving activities, from bird watching to wild mushroom picking, Lugo really has it all, it is so full of things to do, it is difficult to list them all on this website, see below for some examples and links.
Location
La Casita is in Gaibor, in the heart of Galicia, and while there is a bar/restaurant, a small super market and petrol station within walking distance, two towns 9.5km away, and restaurants in smaller towns very close to us, when you stand in the garden of our lovely barn conversion you would not know you are so close to civilization, it’s perfectly peaceful and all you are surrounded with is the sweet sound of nature. It’s been described as tranquil, magical and stunningly beautiful.

The village of Rabade is on the Camino Das Peregrinacions ‘ Way of Pilgrams’. it runs from the town of Outerio De Rei through Rababe and on to Begonte.

For surfers the beaches of both Lugo and A Coruna are paradise for beginners or more advanced, there are a range of beaches to choose from.

For bird watchers the lake at nearby Cospeito is less than a 20 minute drive. Have your binoculars ready as there are plenty of birds of prey to see, along with a range of wildlife, or just enjoy a lovely walk in nature.
